From January to July 2026, Uzbekistan’s foreign-trade turnover amounted to 49.5 billion US dollars (≈ 42.6 billion euros). Exports fell by 3.6% to 19.93 billion dollars, while imports rose by 17.8%. The deficit reached 9.67 billion dollars (≈ 8.3 billion euros), compared with 4.44 billion a year earlier.
The agricultural sector is growing despite the overall picture: exports excluding gold increased by 32% and amounted to 17.1 billion dollars (≈ 14.7 billion euros). Fruit and vegetables generated 881.2 million dollars (≈ 759 million euros) in the first half of the year, second only to textiles.
At the same time, Uzbekistan is the largest recipient of Kazakh grain: 5.8 million tonnes during the season. The country is therefore increasing its agricultural exports while also remaining a major net importer of grain.
For investors: import demand is growing, but the foreign-currency balance is deteriorating. This is a situation in which payment terms and security carry more weight than price.
